In a strategic move to enhance public healthcare and combat the rising threat of dengue fever, the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) has partnered with the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration. The collaborative effort was formalized during an official visit to the ICCI headquarters by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) East Mehreen Baloch, District Health Officer Dr. Syeda Rashida Batool, and Dengue Focal Persons Dr. Mazhar and Dr. Sultan. The delegation met with ICCI President Nasir Mansoor Qureshi to discuss an integrated approach to dengue prevention and healthcare improvement.

Focus on Awareness and Action

Key discussions centered on launching wide-scale public awareness campaigns and organizing anti-dengue spraying drives across major commercial zones of Islamabad. Both parties emphasized the importance of proactive community participation in programs like this ensuring effective dengue control in Pakistan.

To encourage business cooperation, both parties agreed to suspend inspections and raids on business premises until a designated cut-off date. This proactive step aims to foster voluntary compliance and reinforce public-private collaboration in Pakistan’s ongoing healthcare initiative.

Business Community’s Role in National Health

ADC Mehreen Baloch acknowledged the significant contributions of the business community in Pakistan’s development. She commended ICCI for facilitating partnerships between public authorities and private enterprises. She highlighted that ICCI’s active role will be crucial in preventing future dengue outbreaks.

ICCI President Nasir Mansoor Qureshi reiterated the private sector’s commitment to national progress, even in challenging times. He has highlighted the need for preventive rather than punitive actions. Market association volunteers will actively support the national dengue awareness campaign, as he announced during the meeting.
